Update:

Two men were arrested Friday in connection with the shooting death of a Thousand Oaks resident that occurred late Thursday. Investigators tracked down the pair hours after the shooting and recovered evidence related to the crime, including a handgun. Investigators believe the shooting was gang related.

Caden Crowell and Hector Delgado were booked at the Pre-Trial Detention Facility in Ventura on one count of murder and one count of street terrorism. The victim of the shooting has been identified as David Smith, 19, of Thousand Oaks.

Details: 

A Thousand Oaks man was shot and killed late Thursday night in a condominium complex in Newbury Park. At 11:14 pm, Sheriff’s Dispatch received a 911 call regarding shots heard and a person down in the . Deputies responded to the scene and located an adult male lying in the middle of the street.

The man was pronounced dead at the scene. The man’s identity is not being released pending the notification of next of kin by the Medical Examiner’s Office. Sheriff’s homicide detectives are currently investigating the circumstances which led to the man’s death.     WELL, Newbury Park may not be immune to violent crime, but, thanks to our diligent Police and likely neighborhood awareness, we don’t tolerate very long.

    This is an area on the north side of the freeway. In most cases, this is an area in Newbury Park where there are a plethora of drug related crimes, and not exempt from some gang activity.

      Just check the weekly Sheriff’s Blotter to verify where most of the crime is at in Newbury Park.
