28th Ojai Mardi Gras Masquerade Ball!

Come stroll through the streets of Paris to the magical Moulin Rouge – a cabaret of dancing and demi-decadence where patrons and performers dress to delight, impress and entice. Who knows, you may even rub shoulders with a famous artiste.

The Ojai Mardi Gras Wake-Up! Krewe is excited to host the 28th Annual Mardi Gras Masquerade Ball, Saturday March 3rd, 7:30 pm till 1:00 am, at the Ojai Art Center, 113 Montgomery Street in downtown Ojai. This year’s theme is “MOULIN ROUGE – Too Loose to Trek.”

Featuring the Ojai Mardi Gras Band (OMGB) the Ojai Art Center will again be transformed into an iconic magical venue. A no-host bar serving luscious libations, a food truck serving enticing entrees, and a snack bar serving tasty treats will be available.

Ojai Mardi Gras Fais-Do-Do: The following day, on Sunday March 4th from 12:00 to 3:00 pm, the party continues with a “Fais-Do-Do” Cajun Dance Party, a family-oriented musical event featuring the BeJammingtons playing New Orleans Funk. Bring the grandparents and your kids, plus your dancing shoes for an afternoon of music and Mardi Gras fun. Admission to the Sunday Fais-Do-Do is $5 for adults and free for kids under 12.

The Ojai Mardi Gras Wake-Up! Krewe, Inc. is a California Public Benefit Non-Profit Organization. Proceeds from the Masquerade Ball and Fais-Do-Do go to support music and art in the community. This year’s donations will be earmarked for music and art supplies and equipment for victims of the Thomas and Koenigstein Fires.

The first Ojai Mardi Gras was held in 1990 and was the creation of Lyle Mathews, a fun loving New Orleans expatriate. Although Lyle is no longer with us, all of her friends annually come together to create the Ojai Mardi Gras.
