Aircraft Advisory: Increase in aircraft activity at NBVC Point Mugu

Ventura County Calif. – Starting Thursday, April 5, multiple aircraft will be arriving at Naval Base Ventura County (NBVC) Point Mugu, in support of a Large Force Exercise (LFE). NBVC Point Mugu will host approximately 30 aircraft to include F/A-18 aircraft from Air Test and Evaluation Squadron Nine (VX-9) and VX-31, home based at Naval Air Weapons Station (NAWS) China Lake, Calif., F/A-18 aircraft assigned to VX-23 and E-2D aircraft from VX-1 at NAS Patuxent River, Md.

LFE aircraft are expected to operate during daylight hours out of NBVC Point Mugu from April 5 to April 22, with the larger segments of flying starting April 12. The purpose of this exercise is to provide unit-level training for pilots and aircrews on the Point Mugu Sea Range.

Communities in the Camarillo and Oxnard area may experience increased jet activity and noise during this time.
