Alert | You can help: Billionaire’s radical agenda threatens public safety in San Diego

By Michele Hanisee

It doesn’t just seem as if there’s a new assault on criminal justice and public safety every time you turn around. There really is.

One of the latest, and most disturbing, is occurring right now in San Diego County. There, out-of-state billionaire George Soros is bankrolling for District Attorney an inexperienced deputy public defender who has never held a management and leadership position in her office. But, she has promised to be soft on crime if elected.

His anointed candidate, to whom he has thrown a whopping $1.5 million, has announced she will never seek the death penalty, refuse to charge those under 25 with crimes that could lead to a life without parole sentence, not charge drug dealers who sell to cops, release accused criminals without bail, and wants to “decriminalize” low level offenses by refusing to prosecute them. For good measure, she also is in support of closing prisons altogether.

District Attorney, Summer Stephan

The San Diego County Deputy District Attorney’s Association and its political action committee, San Diegans Against Crime (SDAC), support the current District Attorney, Summer Stephan in the June 5 election. So does LA County District Attorney Jackie Lacey and dozens of other individuals and organizations.

Stephan is a career prosecutor with lengthy trial experience who has also held many leadership positions while rising through the ranks in the DA’s Office over almost three decades. She has devoted her career to public safety, and she knows the toll that crimes take on individuals, families and communities.

Soros’ goal is to use his vast wealth to fund last minute campaign ads and subvert the democratic process, benefiting criminals at the expense of law-abiding citizens. And he has an impressive track record. He has succeeded in electing anti-law enforcement candidates in 12 of the 14 elections he has bankrolled nationwide.

But the SDAC isn’t tapping out. They’re financially outmatched, but they’re fighting furiously to protect public safety. They’re asking their fellow prosecutors to help blunt Soros’s radical agenda by contributing anything they can to Stephan’s re-election campaign. Any contribution – $10, $20, $50, $100, $200 – will help.

They’ve set up an easy way on their website to contribute by credit card.

We are committed to supporting elected officials who will enhance public safety and use the legislative process to enact reforms, rather than those who promise to ignore laws they don’t personally like. We encourage our members to do the same.
