    AMERICA’S TEACHING ZOO AT MOORPARK COLLEGE Hosts Community Appreciation Day with Free Admission

    Moorpark, CA – America’s Teaching Zoo at Moorpark College invites community members to experience the zoo free of charge the weekend of Sept. 22 and 23.  During the annual “Community Appreciation Day,” guests will experience wild animal encounters and presentations at 12:00 p.m. and 2:00 p.m. on both days.  Additional activities will include big cat feedings and training demonstrations led by students from the zoo’s Exotic Animal and Training Management program.

    “We hope first-time visitors will take advantage of this weekend and develop an appreciation for our zoo as a community resource,” says Mara Rodriguez, a spokesperson for the zoo. The zoo is place where visitors can do anything from write a school report to celebrate a birthday. Mommy Poppins Magazine recently ranked America’s Teaching Zoo among the top 100 places to take your kids in Los Angeles.

    “The teaching zoo is a world-class teaching facility; in fact the Exotic Animal and Training Management program was just recognized by the California Community College Chancellor’s Office for having 100 percent of students employed in a job similar to their field of study. We are proud of the accomplishments being made here at Moorpark College,” shared Trustee Diane McKay.

    America’s Teaching Zoo is open from 11:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. during the weekend of Sept. 22 and 23.
