“Ant-Man and The Wasp” gave Marvel another win, hitting $76 million during its opening weekend.

The “Ant Man” sequel — starring Paul Rudd and Evangeline Lilly — held the top spot at the box office domestically after opening in 4,206 theaters Friday, according to Variety Sunday. The film also surpassed the original movie that had a $57 million launch in 2015.

Overseas, the unlikely duo superhero film did just as well, earning $85 million over the weekend and bringing the total up to $161 million worldwide.

Marvel has dominated the box office globally with 20 movies from the Marvel Cinematic Universe scoring $17 billion, with all the films’ openings in the number one spot.

The latest superhero movie pairs Rudd as Scott Lang, aka Ant-Man, with his new partner Evangeline Lilly — playing Hope van Dyne, also known as the Wasp — as they battle villains in miniature and oversized form.

“As Scott Lang balances being both a Super Hero and a father, Hope van Dyne and Dr. Hank Pym present an urgent new mission that finds the Ant-Man fighting alongside The Wasp to uncover secrets from their past,” a description about the film reads on IMDb.

The sequel is directed by Peyton Reed, starring Michelle Pfeiffer, Michael Douglas and Laurence Fishburne.
