Arrests made in Camarillo 7-11 Robbery

On 09/26/2017, a robbery occurred at the 7-11 store located on Carmen Drive near Daily Drive in the city of Camarillo. At about 3:15 a.m., a male entered 7-11 armed with a weapon and threatened the clerk. The suspect assaulted the clerk and stole an undisclosed amount of cash from the register before fleeing the store. No one was injured during the robbery. The weapon used by the suspect was described as being similar to a screwdriver.

Over the next couple days, with the assistance of the Camarillo Special Enforcement Detail (SED), Sheriff’s Major Crimes detectives identified (S) Martin Prado as the robbery suspect. Detectives also identified an associate of Martin Prado, (S) Arlene Hokafonu, as an accomplice to the robbery.

Martin Prado is currently on probation with search terms for an unrelated offense.

On 10/11/2017, detectives from the Sheriff’s Major Crimes Unit and Camarillo SED executed a probation search at Prado’s residence in Camarillo and search warrant at Hokafonu’s residence in Port Hueneme. Both Prado and Hokafonu were taken into custody at the time of the searches by detectives. During the searches, evidence linking Prado and Hokafonu to the 7-11 robbery  was located.

Sheriff’s Major Crimes detectives arrested Prado and Hokafonu for PC 182(a)(1) – [Conspiracy to Commit a Crime] and PC 211 – [Robbery]. Both Prado and Hokafonu are scheduled to appear in Ventura  County Superior  Court for  arraignment on  10/13/2017, at 1330  hours.   Prado’s bail is currently set at $65,000 while Hokafonu’s bail is currently set at $50,000.
