    The 65th Bilderberg Meeting will take place from 1-4 June 2017 in Chantilly, Virginia, USA. As of today, 131 participants from 21 countries have confirmed their attendance. As ever, a diverse group of political leaders and experts from industry, finance, academia and the media has been invited. The list of participants is available here.

    The key topics for discussion this year include:

    Founded in 1954, the Bilderberg Meeting is an annual conference designed to foster dialogue between Europe and North America. Every year, between 120-140 political leaders and experts from industry, finance, academia and the media are invited to take part in the conference. About two thirds of the participants come from Europe and the rest from North America; approximately a quarter from politics and government and the rest from other fields.

    The conference is a forum for informal discussions about major issues facing the world. The meetings are held under the Chatham House Rule, which states that participants are free to use the information received, but neither the identity nor the affiliation of the speaker(s) nor any other participant may be revealed.

    Thanks to the private nature of the meeting, the participants are not bound by the conventions of their office or by pre-agreed positions. As such, they can take time to listen, reflect and gather insights. There is no desired outcome, no minutes are taken and no report is written. Furthermore, no resolutions are proposed, no votes are taken, and no policy statements are issued.

    At the Bilderberg conference exchange every year around 130 high-ranking representatives from politics, economy and International organizations. This year’s conference will take place from 1. to 4. June.
    The global political and economic development, transatlantic relations and globalization issues would be discussed, among other things, the Department of Economic Affairs (eaer).
    In the past, members of the Federal Council to the conference – Doris Leuthard, in the year 2011, as the conference in St. Moritz, GR, was held, Christoph Blocher , in the year of 2009, and Pascal Couchepin , according to the message a few times. Blocher described the meeting later as “harmless”.
    The Meetings take place behind closed doors. Media professionals are not allowed, statements or press conferences there is. Unlike other conferences, the participants are bound neither by their features nor by the content of the items.
    For the Bilderberg conferences, the so-called Chatham House rules will apply, the participants do not allow the use of the information of the meeting only if you disclose the identity of the speaker. The confidentiality is to allow the participants according to the organizers, listen, reflect and gather insights.
    The Bilderberg group was founded in 1954 on the Initiative of the Dutch Prince Bernhard, and is named after its first meeting place. Bilderberg is the Name of a hotel in the Dutch town of Oosterbeek, where the group gathered to the relations between Western Europe and the USA to strengthen.
    Since then, rumors surrounding the Meeting. Critics accuse the Bilderberg group to meet at your conferences, major political and economic decisions without democratic legitimacy and public control. Also is blamed for an ultra-liberal orientation of globalization. (SDA)
