Captain Brad “Brick” Conners US Navy (ret) to Run for Supervisor Peter Foy’s Seat

“Brick” Conners has spent a lifetime in the military and private industry making things work. That’s why he is running for Ventura County Supervisor – to make sure our county government is transparent, fiscally accountable, and focused on getting our basic priorities done well, at a fair price, and on time.

Growing up in Buffalo and Rochester, New York, in a family of four, Brick knew two things fairly early: he wanted a career in the military and he didn’t want to live where it snows. A strong student and athlete, he was recruited to play Lacrosse at the United States Navel Academy. After graduation, he became a Navy Fighter Pilot.

In the Navy, Brick helped create the Naval Strike and Air Warfare Center, which transformed Naval Aviation strategies and resulted in overwhelming air combat success in Kosovo, Afghanistan and Iraq. He was a key architect of the Iraqi Freedom Air Campaign and was considered the Navy’s premier expert in strike warfare and power projection. As a Squadron Commanding Officer, he was recognized for having the Navy’s best F/A-18 Hornet squadron.

In his final tour in the Navy, Brick commanded Naval Base Ventura County, one of the largest and most complex Naval bases in the world. His base won multiple awards for exemplary environment and energy program stewardship, and he managed large budgets effectively. He brought the military and local civilians together to resolve shared problems and to create a job-producing economic development strategy – a model that is used by other military installations today.

After his service Brick served in executive positions with Booz Allen Hamilton and Northrop Grumman Aerospace, helping those companies with issues that included aircraft carriers, strike fighters, high risk operations, and technology innovation. He currently serves as President of Pharos Leadership, a company that helps integrate elite military personnel, with unique experiences and skills, into private companies as they rejoin the civilian world.

Brick is married to Terrie and together they have four children – Sarah, Rachel, Anna and Brad, and Liberty Bell “Libby” a Yellow Lab. In his free time, he has coached Lacrosse and serves as a Boardmember in the Ventura County Leadership Academy.
