Port Hueneme Police Department Incident Release
On February 16, 2021, at approximately 7:40 PM, officers responded to the 500 block of West Channel Islands Blvd. in regards to a call of a carjacking that just occurred.
When officers arrived, they located a victim standing in the parking lot unharmed. The preliminary investigation revealed that the victim was driving slowly in the parking lot after leaving a business when he was approached by both a male and female suspect. The victim stopped his vehicle and a conversation started. Sometime during the conversation, the male suspect pointed a handgun at the victim and entered the vehicle. The victim got out of the vehicle and ran. The female suspect quickly entered the victim’s vehicle and both fled the scene eastbound through the parking lot.
The male suspect is described as Hispanic, 26-27 years old with a clean-shaven face, and was last seen wearing a black baseball hat, blue striped shirt, and black jeans. The female suspect is described as Hispanic, 28-29 years old having short brown hair and was wearing a blue sweatshirt and blue jeans.
The Port Hueneme Police Department was notified later in the evening that the Ventura County Sheriff’s Department located the stolen vehicle overturned in a ditch around the area of Laguna Road in Camarillo. Deputies also located a subject later identified as Jeronimo Espinoza (21-year-old Oxnard resident) walking about a mile from the overturned vehicle.
This investigation is still ongoing, however; Espinoza was charged with the following: 10851 CVC – Unlawful Taking or Possession of a Vehicle
466 PC – Possession of Burglary Tools
11377(a) H&S – Possession of Methamphetamine
