    Channel Islands Maritime Museum presents the History and Evolution of the Nuclear Submarine

    Oxnard, CA: The Channel Islands Maritime Museum in the Channel Islands Harbor presents the History and Evolution of the Nuclear Submarine by Warren Haussler for their Speaker Series this month. Wednesday March 21, 2018, 6:30-8:00PM.

    His talk will cover submarine history and development, starting with basic principles and a discussion of the original concepts from the late 19th Century through World War One, a brief review of submarine warfare in World Wars I and II, post-war considerations of nuclear technology and application to submarine propulsion, the development of the NAUTILUS and the eventual conversion of the entire US Fleet to nuclear power with some final remarks on naval operations during the Cold war and today.

    Mr. Haussler has a degree in Chemical Engineering from the University of Rochester and for the past 25 years has run his own company in Pasadena in Industrial Design, developing new products for every-day use and designing and building machinery for production and manufacturing operations.

    The Channel Islands Maritime Museum is open M/Th-Sat 10-4pm, Sun 12-4pm, Tues and Wed for group tours and private member events by appointment. Located in Oxnard’s Channel Islands Harbor at 3900 Bluefin Circle. Explore galleries full of rare and beautiful maritime paintings dating back to the 1600’s, more than sixty world-class models of historic ships, rotating thematic fine arts exhibitions, and interactive exhibits that encourage visitors to expand their horizons about everything maritime. Museum entry is free for members and children under 6, $7 adults, $5 seniors/active military, $3 youth (ages 6-17) and brought to you by Edison International, free admission on the third Thursday of the month.
