Citizens Journal is proud to support our Ventura Military Veterans and the community that honors their service

A year ago in July, Citizens Journal decided to dedicate a section of its free, online, daily newspaper to our Ventura military and veteran community. After all, these brave men and women have dedicated part of their lives in service to protecting our country and the freedoms we enjoy unlike any other population in the world. We thank them for their service and are honored and privileged to continue providing Ventura residents with information about, for, and in support of our great service men and women!

Citizens Journal was inspired to honor our military community and their families when volunteer workers discovered an organization called Ventura County Military Collaborative, VCMilC. That organization was founded in November 2011. Under the stewardship of founding-member Kim Evans, the Collaborative grew to include over 195 agencies and related services specifically focused on our military community and veterans.

Earlier this year and after herculean work, Kim Evans resigned to devote more time to her family. Happily, the Collaborative found a new home and clearinghouse for services and information under the umbrella of the Ventura County of Human Services

Here at this link people and families can find a wealth of information about available programs and services supporting active military personnel, veterans, and their families. Citizens Journal encourages everyone to visit the site and become familiar with what it offers.

Importantly, Citizens Journal will continue to devote time and space in our virtual pages to our military and veteran communities. After all, as a C I T I Z E N S  J O U R N A L, it seems the least we can do to salute the service of these brave men and women!
