NEWBURY PARK—“God’s heart is breaking when he looks at California,” said Kevin McGary, Douglass Leadership Institute Senior Development Associate, at Godspeak Calvary Chapel, 2697 Lavert Ct.  “The condition of America is a report card of the church.   The people of faith are to be the light and salt.  We are “contending for California.

“We can see the assault on our families, on our faith, on our Constitution.  The next generation is facing chaos and decay but I sense God is going to do something good.  This is a flashpoint for our faith, especially in California where we have our legislators who are so brazen and arrogant and dismissive of people of faith.

“God is holding us accountable for a holistic gospel.   My vote is not my vote.  We must vote in alignment with the word of God.  Voting is not about a person, not about gender, not meant to be personal.   We are not suppose to be voting.  It is His (God’s) vote, according to His will.  Only 50 percent of people of faith are registered to vote.  And of those registered on any election, only 50 percent of those vote.

“We have a misconception that God doesn’t care about politics.   But what is God’s kingdom?   It is a government—a God created government.  He has a government and it is His kingdom.

“We do not connect with the reality of a holistic gospel.   Voting is spiritual not political though it does have political implications.  We can change the culture and society in California.

“We have a gospel that does not change.   Yet is impossible to hold Progressives accountable.  They say society and culture change.  That’s the way it is.  They hate Christians.

“It is religious liberties we are fighting for right now.  Lot of us do not think of the gospel when we vote.  We say, ‘here is my vote; I can vote anyway I want.’   We don’t care about the word of  God.  We say ‘this is my vote.’

“If we can start thinking differently, we can spark a revival—a great awakening.  It happens here.   We have a clear dictate—a mandate to vote biblically.   This is the time we will arise in a great awakening.”

(Editor’s Note:  The Douglass Leadership Institute (DLI) is a national education and public policy 501(c)(3) organization with representatives and groups across the United States. DLI’s philosophy is based upon the sanctity of human life, the promotion of free market principles, and limited government.  Founded in 2015, DLI is the brainchild of Dean Nelson, a minister and veteran political and pro-life leader. Through Dean’s years of working with African American churches and advocacy for biblical worldview in the marketplace, it became clear that there was a need to bridge the gap between African American faith-based institutions, civil government and the civic world.

Thus, DLI was created to develop a network of faith-based leaders across the nation and provide them with uniquely tailored programs, information and social networking that will engage, equip and empower men and women of faith. So that men and women of faith need to not only take positions of leadership and prominence in our cities and businesses but to also come equipped with biblical worldview values to shape and influence policy in our nation.
