Defendant Sentenced in Embezzlement of Simi Valley Larsen’s Grill

VENTURA, California – District Attorney Gregory D. Totten announced today that Omar A. Landaverde (DOB 11/17/1985), of Van Nuys, was sentenced to serve 210 days in the Ventura County jail. Landaverde and co-defendant Kimberly Sue Harrison (DOB 5/6/1987), of Ventura, each pled guilty to one count of Penal Code section 487(b)(3), felony theft by embezzlement. The case was the result of an investigation by the Simi Valley Police Department and the Ventura County District Attorney’s Office.

Landaverde and Harrison were employed as bartenders by Larsen’s Grill. Landaverde made unauthorized transactions using Larsen’s gift cards by exploiting the company’s computer system. He subsequently instructed Harrison how to steal from the restaurant using these fraudulent gift cards. From May 1, 2011, through June 27, 2013, Landaverde embezzled $75,080 and Harrison embezzled $54,180.

In addition to the jail sentence, Landaverde was placed on probation for five years and ordered to pay $75,080 restitution to Larsen’s Grill. In October 2017, Harrison was sentenced to serve 210 days in the Ventura County jail, placed on probation, and ordered to pay $54,180 restitution to Larsen’s Grill.
