    DUI Checkpoint Results for Ventura and Oxnard

    Ventura:

    This checkpoint was established in the 4200 block of E. Main St. beginning at 2100 hours and concluded at 0100 hours. 774 cars passed the checkpoint, while 279 drivers were contacted and screened through the checkpoint. The following is a list of the enforcement activities that took place at, or as a result of the checkpoint:

    4 SFST’s were conducted

    1 DUI arrest for 23152(f) VC / Driving Under the Influence of Drugs

    3 Citations issued for 12500(a) VC / Unlicensed Driver

    1 Citation issued for 12509.5(c) VC / Violation of Instruction Permit Restriction

    1 Vehicle towed from the checkpoint

    The Ventura Police Department would like to remind the public of the dangers of DUI driving and encourage everyone to drink responsibly or utilize ride sharing and other alternative methods of transportation if you plan on drinking.

    Oxnard:

    The Oxnard Police Department Traffic Unit arrested one impaired driver while conducting a DUI/Driver’s license checkpoint on August 30, 2019.  The checkpoint was conducted on Gonzales Road west of Snow Avenue between the hours of 8:00 p.m. and 2:00 a.m., resulting in the following:

    • 536 vehicles screened
    • One DUI-alcohol suspect arrested 
    • Eight drivers cited for operating a vehicle unlicensed or while suspended/revoked
    • 20 citations issued

    Checkpoints are placed in locations that have the greatest opportunity for achieving drunk and drugged driving deterrence and provide the greatest safety for officers and the public.
