14th Annual Ojai Valley Century Ride

    0

Ojai Valley Rides Inc. will hold their 14th Annual Ojai Valley Century on June 3, 2017.  Cyclists from all over Southern California will converge in Ojai for the ride which rolls through the beautiful Ojai Valley, Rose Valley, and Lake Casitas and up our spectacular coast to Carpinteria and Montecito.  The ride is open to the public and begins and ends in Ojai.  Cyclists have several route options including a Full Century, Half Metric, Double Metric, Metric and Hammerhead Century Routes.

John Somerville, cyclist and long-time local Boy Scout leader commented on his experience in the Ojai Valley Century. “Having ridden most of the 100 milers up and down the coast, this is the best century in California!  The boy scouts do a fabulous job of keeping the stops stocked with everything we riders need including great scouting spirit.  Gorgeous scenery, perfect weather, well marked roads!  Awesome ride!!  You’ll ride this one, every year!”

The Ojai Valley Century started in 2004 and has grown steadily over the last 14 years.  In 2006 sponsorship of the ride was turned over to local Boy Scout Troops and the committee became incorporated as a non-profit.  The majority of the over 100 volunteers at the rest stops are scouts and their families and all of the profits from the ride are donated to local Boy Scout troops to be used for outings and to support families that need financial assistance.  Every year cyclists comment on the beauty of the ride and on the impeccable service they get from our volunteers.

Cyclists can register through the website at OjaiValleyCentury.org.  Walk-In registrations will be accepted if the 800 rider limit is not met before the day of the race.  Online registration is $85 and walk-in registration is $95.  Registration fee includes mid-ride sandwich lunch, post-ride BBQ, a bib number, route slip, commemorative patch, seven rest stops, SAG support, popsicles and first class support from over 100 volunteers.
