Coffee with the Chiefs, Thousands Oaks

    1

In 2016, the Thousand Oaks Police Department responded to nearly 21,000 calls for service while the Fire Protection District had approximately 12,000 responses. Your law enforcement officers work specific neighborhoods or patrol areas, day in and day out. These patrol areas are called beats. This system of community policing allows officers to really learn and interact with the community and citizens they serve. Your Fire Protection District has numerous stations throughout your community to enhance their availability to each region. This structure is only part of the issue; however, it takes more than that. It takes even greater partnerships between public safety and the community.

One example of those types of partnerships is the monthly Coffee with the Chiefs.  On Thursday January 26th from 8:30 AM to 10:30 AM your Thousand Oaks Police Chief Tim Hagel and Fire Chief Ted Smith will be at P and L Burger, 2000-A Avenida de los Arboles in Thousand Oaks.

What’s on your mind? The chiefs want to sit down and have a cup of coffee or tea with you. Over the last four years these casual, spontaneous discussions between community members and the chiefs has led to numerous resolutions of community issues that would otherwise have not surfaced.

Come share your concerns of your neighborhood, openly, over a free cup of coffee. Be a part of the reason that this is such a safe and desirable community. Contribute your ideas and thoughts.

Chief Hagel and Chief Smith will be present from 8:30 AM to 10:30 AM.

    1. Sounds like I could make this interesting. I will ask the Chief on what basis the VCSD can decide taht it can deny citizen”s their right to freely assemble as teh VCSD asserts that it can remove people from public meeting because it chooses to.

Specifically THE VCSD grabbed me and dragged me out of a pulic forum I was attending in T. Oaks on 10-14-2014 ( Not what you might think, I am very respectful, had not said anything but hello to the man I was sitting next to, just sitting at the table, then…) they contend they have ‘The Right” to remove anyone they deem a ‘security risk’ from any public meeting. The ‘security risk’ from any public meeting. The complete investigationby the VCSD
completely exonerated the officers, of course. I have brought this of course to Sheriff Dean ( who likely ordered my removal beforehand) and the Board of Supervisors, who plead ‘ not our jobman… This will be part of the lawsuit we are now preparring.
