    Community invited to candidate debates scheduled for Oct. 13 and 17, 2016 at Oxnard PACC

    debateNovember election at two debates hosted by the Inter-Neighborhood Council Organization (INCO) on Thursday, site Oct. 13, salve 2016, and Monday, Oct. 17, 2016. Both events are scheduled for 7-9 p.m. in the main auditorium at the Performing Arts and Convention Center, 800 Hobson Way. Admission is free.

    The Oct. 13 debate will feature 11 candidates running for two Oxnard City Council seats. On Oct. 17, the community will hear from three mayoral hopefuls. Additionally, eight candidates for city clerk and four for city treasurer will have the opportunity to give brief statements about their candidacy during the Oct. 17 event.

    During the debates, the candidates will answer questions submitted by Oxnard community members through their neighborhood councils prior to the events. No questions will be taken from the audience during the debates. Both events will be moderated by David Maron, an active member of the League of Women Voters who has been tapped by the INCO and other organizations to moderate town halls, candidate debates, public forums and other events.

    Free parking for the event is available on-site at Hobson Way and Seventh Street and also at the lot at Hobson Way and Ninth Street. Americans With Disabilities Act-accessible parking is available at both locations.

    The debates will be recorded for broadcast on Oxnard CityWatch Television,www.oxnard.org/citywatchtv. The video for each debate will be available one week after the event date. Spectrum (formerly Time Warner Cable) subscribers can watch the debates on Channel 10, and Frontier Communications customers can tune in to Channel 35. The videos will also be available on the City’s website at www.oxnard.org.

    The debates are hosted by the INCO, which encourages residents to form neighborhood councils to address issues that are important to community members. The INCO also assists neighborhood councils in communicating with the Oxnard City Council and staff, and helps neighborhood councils achieve their objectives. The INCO holds meetings the first Wednesday of each month, serving as a forum for neighborhood council participants.
