MARITIME MUSEUM “NAUTICA” ART SHOW OPENED THIS WEEK
The theme of the show is marine subjects “TO THE TIDE LINE”, and features the work of 32 artists from southern California, on the upper deck of the Channel Islands Maritime Museum, running through June 30. A juried show, an awards reception will be held on June 6, from 4 to 6 pm. Light refreshments will be served. Admission is free to view the exhibit.
A “Nautica” exhibit has been a staple on the Museum’s annual show schedule for more than 20 years, and is a juried show with entry fees going toward prize money awards for first, second, and third-place ribbon winners. Work encompasses all media. Originally a show intended to include Ventura County art club and association members, the show’s reach now includes artists from as far away as Encinitas in Orange County, making the Museum truly a regional venue for the exhibition of marine art.
The Maritime Museum is open daily 11-5 pm.  Located at Oxnard’s Channel Islands Harbor, 3900 South Harbor Boulevard, on Bluefin Circle, permanent exhibits include a seascape gallery of rare and beautiful maritime paintings dating back to the 1600’s  more than sixty world-class models of historic ships, and interactive contemporary exhibits. Museum entry is $5 Adults, $4 Seniors, $2 Children. Info:  CIMMVC.org or 805.984.6260.
