The public can register for the challenge at www.active.com/oxnard-ca/races/tower-2-tower-2016. Tickets cost $40 for adults 18 and over and $35 for children and youth 1-17 years old. Tickets will cost $50 on the day of the race. Participants can pick up race packets starting at 9 a.m. on the day of the event.

Participants will begin the stair climb at the 14-story City National Bank tower. After exiting the tower, racers have the option of completing a series of obstacle courses that lead to the larger Morgan Stanley tower where they will race up 22 flights of stairs before crossing the finish line on the building’s rooftop. A photographer will be at the finish line to capture memorable photos of each participant. Competitors who compete in both stair climbs and the obstacles will be eligible for prizes.

Competitors are encouraged to bring family and friends to cheer them on during the challenge and enjoy several family friendly activities that will take place from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. The Fire and Police departments will be at the event to showcase live demonstrations, Gold Coast Ambulance will provide sidewalk CPR lessons and the Oxnard Community Emergency Response Team will share disaster preparedness information.

The Oxnard Firefighters Foundation will give away bicycle helmets and car seats. Local band InStone and DJ Jerry Gutierrez will provide live entertainment, and food trucks will sell savory delights.

Proceeds from the Tower 2 Tower Stair Climb Race will go toward funding for the Oxnard Youth Fire Explorers Program.  The Oxnard Fire Explorer Post 9244 provides training for youth fire explorers who participate in basic fire training, assist responding fire agencies during emergencies and provide direct assistance in fire prevention and public education activities.
