    1. So sad to see such a successful community adopting systems which have failed the kids. Their beautiful minds need the safety of education – reading good books, writing with polished penmanship, critical thinking skills – age appropriate, exposure to working with color, social skills and team sports, the satisfaction of being the best when you give it your best. Simple. Proven systems of success. Why would CVUSD want to model themselves after failure? Has CVUSD been bought? We remember the first $3.4 million payoff to adopt common core. Was that the beginning of the buy out?

    2. At a previous CVUSD meeting I listened to both sides of the issue. What I observed was:

      1) The people for the book were in higher numbers than those against the book.
      2) Students supported the book, as I would guess. at the high school level, their brains are easily titilated with controversial subjects. They are at the stage in life where being a rebel is part of the age group they belong to.
      3) Those in favor of the book had two points that were used frequently, a) They considered any position to the book as equal to book burning and b) They trusted “Experts” over parental leadership in the decision process.
      4) Those against the book wanted parental choice over “expert” proclamations.
      5) “The Committee of Experts” decision was the truly final decision because the “Elected Officials” are required to rubber stamp “The Committee’s” decision. If you doubt this, just ask the leader of “The Committee” or Mr. Dunn.
