America’s Teaching Zoo will host its 27th annual Spring Spectacular March 25 & 26 and April 1 & 2 on its five-acre zoo at Moorpark College (7075 Campus Road, Moorpark, CA).  The theme, “Animal Arcade,” will present video game inspired shows hosted by students, featuring some of America’s most iconic video games and characters.  This family fun-filled event with animal shows, kid friendly games and food from local vendors will showcase animal presentations throughout the day and behind the scenes VIP tours of zoo operations.

America’s Teaching Zoo will open from 10 a.m. – 5 p.m. on both weekends (March 25 & 26 and April 1 & 2) for the Spectacular.  Admission is $10 for adults, $7 for kids and seniors and $5 for Zoo members. Children 2 and under receive free admission to this event.  The zoo is located at 7075 Campus Road, Moorpark, CA, 93021.  For additional information, please call 805-378-1441 or visit the website at www.moorparkcollege.edu/zoo.

“Spring Spectacular is our largest fundraising event of the year,” said Mara Rodriguez, zoo staff at America’s Teaching Zoo.  “The students work extremely hard to produce a show that entertains and enlightens our guests to the fascinating world of exotic animal training and care,” added Rodriguez.  All proceeds from this event support America’s Teaching Zoo and its animal ambassadors.

“Students come from all across the nation to attend the Exotic Animal Training and Management program at America’s Teaching Zoo at Moorpark College,” stated Ventura County Community College District Board Chair Bernardo Perez.  “Spring Spectacular is entertaining and educational and an opportunity for the entire family to experience this amazing zoo right in their own back yards,” added Perez.

Moorpark College introduced the Exotic Animal Training and Management program (EATM) in 1974, with the goal of providing students the best possible instruction in exotic animal care and training. Students get hands-on experience caring for the nearly 200 animal residents at the program’s learning lab, America’s Teaching Zoo. Animal facilities around the globe recruit graduates of the distinguished EATM program. America’s Teaching Zoo was voted one of the Top 100 Places to Take Your Kids in Los Angeles by Mommy Poppins Magazine.
