Join Us for the US Park Service Native Plant Sale on Saturday November 10, 2018

“Bring the Islands Home” Plant Sale features many varieties of California native plants, including species from the Channel Islands.

 

When: Saturday, November 10, 2018
Time: 9:00 am to 1:00 pm
Location: Channel Islands National Park Visitor Center – Robert J. Lagomarsino Visitor Center, 1901 Spinnaker Dr. at the end of Ventura Harbor

Come learn what and how to plant your winter vegetable garden so that you can put healthy vegetables on the table far into the chillier months. The workshop features information on how to select vegetables that thrive best in the winter and how to prepare soil for the best results. 

Vegetables in 4 inch pots will be available for purchase and cost $2.00 each. Bring your checkbook or cash.

Learn from a Master Gardener how to prune TREES

Attendees will learn basic cutting techniques, “Prune-to-Pick”— how to assess trees for readiness, the correct tools for each cut, and tool maintenance. The workshop includes hands-on training at the ARC’s 40-tree orchard. Bring your own hand pruners, loppers, or pruning saws. Wear closed-toed shoes and comfortable clothing. Also recommended is a hat, gloves, sunscreen and drinking water.
