Fatal Collision on the Norwegian Grade

At about 5:50 pm, deputies from the Thousand Oaks Police Department responded to a fatal traffic collision which occurred on the Norwegian Grade in the city of Thousand Oaks. As a result of the traffic collision, a small brush fire also started and was quickly put out by the Ventura County Fire Department. This resulted in the Norwegian Grade being closed in both directions for several hours.

A motorcyclist traveling south on the Norwegian Grade collided with a sedan traveling northbound. The motorcyclist was fatally injured as a result, and was pronounced dead at Los Robles Medical Center. It is unknown at this time what caused the two vehicles to collide. The driver of the sedan stopped after colliding with the motorcyclist, and has been cooperative with investigators.  At this time, alcohol or drugs do not appear to be a factor in this traffic collision.

The investigation is being conducted by the Thousand Oaks Traffic Bureau. Anyone who may have witnessed this traffic collision is asked to call (805) 494-8271.
