THOUSAND OAKS, Calif. – Live Standup Comedy on the Hill returns Saturday, September 8 at 8:00 pm at the Hillcrest Center for the Arts, 403 W. Hillcrest Dr, across from The Oaks Mall.  September’s lineup includes Michael Gelbart and Darren Carter.  The Center teams up with professional local comedian Jason Love to produce a top-tier show with a new lineup each month.  Now performing to sold-out audiences, this experience in comedy entertainment brings some of Hollywood’s funniest headliners to Thousand Oaks every month and tickets are now available three months in advance.   Summer shows are often outdoors under the stars. All shows are 8:00 pm with doors opening at 7:30.  The hour and a half show is for eighteen years and up only, and beer and wine may be purchased with valid ID.

Darren Carter utilizes impressions, observations and improvisation to round out his show.  Carter has performed on The Tonight Show with Jay Leno, Comics Unleashed, Premium Blend on Comedy Central, and as a supporting character in the 2005 feature film Be Cool with John Travolta. Carter debuted on the comedy scene in 1996 with an appearance on Showtime’s “Latino Laugh Festival” followed by various stand-up performances and guest starring roles on television and in movies. Darren had his own Showtime special titled, “That Ginger’s Crazy.” Carter continues to do stand-up and television appearances, and can regularly be seen performing in at The Laugh Factory, The Improv, The Comedy Store, The Ice House, and Flappers.

Michael Gelbart is a comedian, screenwriter and author who has appeared on CBS’ The Late Late Show With Craig Ferguson, Comics Unleashed. Starz, Disney Channel, Teen Nick, Nickelodeon and Lifetime, and performed at sold-out clubs and theaters.   Gelbart started his comedy career in high school and continued through college while majoring in broadcasting. After graduating, he landed his own prime-time CBC special, his first national exposure showcasing his abilities as a performer and writer. Michael performs all over North America, dividing his time between the US and Canada. His latest special “All New Smash Hits” was completed in June 2017.

Audience members are learning to come early due to sell-out audiences and full houses.  Many evenings include up to four comedians, with plenty of surprises.

Producer and host Jason Love has appeared on HBO, Comedy Central, America’s Got Talent, and over 20 national broadcasts.   He has performed overseas for the troops and on the seas for cruise lines, and was a finalist at the Cabo Comedy Festival.  Jason’s non-profit, Love & Laughter, brings free shows to cancer support communities and others in need.

Standup Comedy on the Hill general admission tickets are only $12 presale (available through the day before the day of the show) and $15 at the door.  Tickets may be purchased at the Hillcrest Center for the Arts Box Office or by calling (805) 381-1246 or www.hillcrestarts.com.
