Laura Ingraham: “Trump is solution; establishment GOP is problem”

By Michael Hernandez

SIMI VALLEY–Laura Anne Ingraham (born June 19, 1963) told a sold-out Ronald Reagan Presidential Library audience:  “Donald Trump is the solution; the establishment GOP is the problem.”  The American television and radio talk show host, and best-selling author of the “Billionaire at the Barricades: The Populist Revolution from Reagan to Trump” (Oct. 10, 2017) said that Trump has “done more on trade in 10 months than any other president since Ronald Reagan.”

The host of the national syndicated radio show “The Laura Ingraham Show,” and the Fox News Channel The Ingraham Angle, (which premiered on October 30, 2017) said Donald J. Trump is about “America first…the fight for the people.”

Ingraham described her attendance at candidate Donald Trump’s last political rally at the eve of the 2016 election near midnight at the state fair in Leesburg, Virginia (after making five campaign stops in five states).   “The people kept coming (they were walking) because it was their last stand for America.”

Ingraham told how she approached a veteran on a wheel chair and offered to help him get to the front of the line.  But he answered, “Where I’m from, we don’t cut the line.”  Ingraham told the presidential library audience:  “That moment summed up the pragmatic, common sense, good values” of this nation…”the idea of America good living.”

Ingraham spoke of an exhausted Donald Trump who could still “joke.”  I measure a person by how they “treat the elderly, children, and dogs” when they are exhausted.  “His handlers wanted to get him to the podium” but he stopped for Maria (Ingraham’s daughter) and the “other kids…He is so funny, lot of people don’t see that part of him.”

Ingraham was asked what she would advise President Trump to do?   “Message discipline.  Stay on key issues.  You can’t get distracted by side squabbles of people in your own party.  Form coalitions with the willing,  sometimes Democrats.

“Politics is to make people lives better…liberty and the pursuit of happiness.  Happy times are coming.  Turn on the politics of happy.  If the economy gets better, people are going to get happy.  We need happy voters in 2018.

“We must pursue the conservative populist agenda…not endless wars, not endless spending, not running up debt, not bigger administration.”

Ingraham promoted her recently published book which states:  “Americans didn’t just go to the polls in 2016. They joined a movement that swept the unlikeliest of candidates, Donald Trump, into the Oval Office. Can he complete his agenda? Or will his opponents in the media, protestor class, and political establishment block his efforts and choke off the movement he represents?

“In Billionaire at the Barricades, Laura Ingraham gives readers a front row seat to the populist revolution as she witnessed it. She reveals the origins of this movement and its connection to the Trump presidency. She unmasks the opposition, forecasts the future of the Make America Great Again agenda and offers her own prescriptions for bringing real change to the swamp of Washington.

“Unlike most of her media colleagues, Ingraham understood Trump’s appeal and defied those who wrote his political obituary. Now she confronts the president’s critics and responds to those who deny the importance of his America First agenda. With sharp humor and insight she traces the DNA of the populist movement: from Goldwater’s 1964 campaign, to Nixon’s Silent Majority, to Reagan’s smashing electoral victories.

“Populism fueled the insurgency campaigns of Buchanan and Perot, the election of George W. Bush, and the Tea Party rallies of the Obama presidency. But a political novice―a Manhattan billionaire―proved to be the movement’s most vocal champion.”

Ingraham earned a B.A. degree at Dartmouth College  in 1985 and a Juris Doctor  degree at the University of Virginia School of Law in 1991. As a Dartmouth undergraduate, she was a staff member of the independent conservative newspaper, The Darmouth Review. In her senior year, she was the newspaper’s editor-in-chief, its first female editor. She wrote several controversial articles during her tenure, notably an article alleging racist and unprofessional behavior by Dartmouth music professor Bill Cole, who later sued Ingraham for $2.4 million. The college paid his legal costs. After Professor Cole’s representation was unable to demonstrate that there were any factual inaccuracies or generalizations in the piece, he was forced to drop his lawsuit.

In the late 1980s, Ingraham worked as a speechwriter in the Ronald Regan administration for the Domestic Policy Advisor. After law school in 1991, she served as a law clerk for Judge Ralph K. Winter, Jr. of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit in New York and subsequently clerked for U.S. Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas.  She then worked as an attorney at the New York-based law firm Skadden, Arps, Slate, Meagher & Flom.

Ingraham has authored:

  • The Hillary Trap: Looking for Power in All the Wrong Places, first published June 2000, while Ingraham was a talk show host on MSNBC, was updated and reissued in paperback December 25, 2005. It accuses Hillary Clinton of being a faux feminist, whose “liberal feminism has created a culture that rewards dependency, encourages fragmentation, undermines families, and celebrates victimhood.”
  • Shut Up & Sing: How Elites from Hollywood, Politics, and the UN Are Subverting America, published October 25, 2003, decries liberal elites in politics, the media, academia, arts and entertainment, business, and international organizations, on behalf of disrespected Middle Americans, whom the author praises as “the kind of people who are the lifeblood of healthy democratic societies.”
  • Power to the People, a New York Times number one best seller, published September 11, 2007, focuses on what Ingraham calls the “pornification” of America and stresses the importance of popular participation in culture, promoting conservative values in family life, education and patriotism.
  • The Obama Diaries, a New York Times number one best seller, published July 13, 2010. The book is a fictional collection of diary entries purportedly made by Barack Obama, which Ingraham uses satirically to criticize Obama, his family, and his administration.
  • Of Thee I Zing, a New York Times best seller, published July 12, 2011. The book is a collection of humorous anecdotes meant to point out the decline of American culture, from muffin tops to body shots.

Ingraham is a convert to Roman Catholicism. She has studied the Russian language.  In May 2008, Ingraham adopted a young girl from Guatemala, whom she has named Maria Caroline. In July 2009 she adopted a 13-month-old boy, Michael Dmitri, and two years later in June 2011 she announced the adoption of her third child, 13-month-old Nikolai Peter. Both of the boys were from Russia.

This I do agree with, establishment GOP and Democrats were killing this country, and still are. I sure hope Trump really can drain the Washington swamp of corruption, because if he doesn’t, and the corrupted morons sure are putting up a fight, America will never be the free prosperous nation it once was again. Every facet of government was corrupted with globalist liberal loyalists while Obama was president, and Trump without the support of the American people may never ever be able to fix that. I think the deep state, that Obama and corrupted politician, republican and democrat set up, actually set Trump up with their people in his administration that are acting like they support him while undermining his efforts. A few have been found and fired, but there are many more it seems, even Jeff Sessions is suspect.
