Live! Stand-Up Comedy On The Hill

THOUSAND OAKS, Calif. – Live Standup Comedy on the Hill returns Saturday, November 11 at 8:00 pm at the Hillcrest Center for the Arts, 403 W. Hillcrest Dr, across from The Oaks Mall.  November’s lineup includes Jim Short and Don McMillan.  The Center teams up with professional local comedian Jason Love to produce a top-tier show with a new lineup each month.  Now performing to sold-out audiences, this experience in comedy entertainment brings some of Hollywood’s funniest headliners to Thousand Oaks every month.  Additional dates have been announced for upcoming shows, always held on the second Saturday of the month.  Just added to December’s lineup is Fritz Coleman, everyone’s favorite weatherman, who has been doing standup since 1980 and is a regular at the Ice House.  All shows are 8:00 pm with doors opening at 7:30.  The hour and a half show is for eighteen years and up only, and beer and wine may be purchased with valid ID.  Summer settings are often outside, under the stars.

Jim Short

Jim Short was born in Australia and moved to Texas where he began his stand-up career.  He then moved to and worked in San Francisco and now lives in Los Angeles.  Jim’s television credits include Comedy Central’s “Premium Blend”, “Late Night with Conan O’Brien”, “The Late Show with David Letterman”, “The Late Late Show with Craig Ferguson”, and NBC’s “Late Friday”.  He has appeared at the Montreal International Comedy Festival in 1998 and 2003 and the 2004 Las Vegas Comedy Festival.  Jim is the winner of the 2004 San Francisco International Comedy Competition.

Don McMillan

Don McMillan worked for AT&T Bell Laboratories as part of the team that designed the world’s first 32-bit Microprocessor and then moved to the Silicon Valley where he worked as a computer chip designer.   But after winning the 16th Annual San Francisco International Stand-Up Comedy Competition in 1991, Don turned in his chips for a microphone. He went on to be $100,000 Grand Champion on “Star Search” in 1993. He’s had numerous television appearances including “The Tonight Show” on NBC, CNN’s “The Larry King Show”, MTV’s “Half Hour Comedy Hour”, and A&E’s “Evening at the Improv”.   Don stars in commercials for Budweiser Beer, playing the Bud delivery guy.  He can also be seen in commercials for 7–11, Franco-American Ravioli, Little Caesar’s Pizza, and United Airlines.  Don has also appeared in the feature length films: “Air Bud III-World Pup”, “Life Without Dick” and “Macon County Jail”.  Don has guest starred on the TV series “Star Trek: Voyager”, “Babylon 5″, “City Guys”, and “Step by Step”.  Don has not lost contact with his high-tech roots. He has performed over 500 shows for major corporations and  named the #1 Corporate Comedian by the CBS Business Network.

“We’re glad to have a show where people can just come and laugh,” says Cultural Program Supervisor Scott Buchanan.   “During the summer months the comics perform in the courtyard under the stars. It’s a lot of fun.”

Producer and host Jason Love has appeared on HBO, Comedy Central, America’s Got Talent, and over 20 national broadcasts.   He has performed overseas for the troops and on the seas for cruise lines, and was a finalist at the Cabo Comedy Festival.  Jason’s non-profit, Love & Laughter, brings free shows to cancer support communities and others in need.

“There’s such a great buzz around this show,” says Love. “People love the venue and appreciate the caliber of comics we’re bringing.”
