    Museum Week at the Channel Islands Maritime Museum April 14 – April 20, 2019

    Channel Islands Harbor, Oxnard – Scheduled activities of family-oriented nautically themed events are planned to celebrate Museum Week at the Channel Islands Maritime Museum.  In addition to the Museum’s regular exhibits and tours, the special events will include story-telling, themed presentations, knot-tying and ship-in-a-bottle classes, Movie Night, meet the Rock Fairy and more.  Participation fees for adults vary from free to discounted admission while children under 18 and seniors will be admitted free all week.     Sunday April 14, 12-4 p.m. – The Rock Fairy will lead a rock painting class.  $2 off Museum admission includes the free class and supplies.   All ages encouraged.

     

    Monday April 15 – Story Day at the Museum – 12- 4 p.m. Various marine-related stories will be read by volunteers in costume and children are invited to dress up too.  Suggested ages are 4-12 years old.   Children and an accompanying adult are free.    

    Wednesday April 17, 7 p.m. –  Speaker Series “Local Endangered Species & How to Protect Them,” by Ashley McConnell .  Regular Museum Admission.  Beverages available for purchase. Suggested ages 12 and up.

    Thursday April 18, 10 a.m. – 4 p.m. – Special FREE DAY at the Museum  “Life of a Sailor” Live Presentation, knot tying and ship-in-a bottle demonstrations.  All Ages welcome.

    Friday April 19, 5:30 p.m. – Movie Night Jules Verne’s “20,000 Leagues under the Sea.” Free popcorn and beverages and snacks available for purchase. Admission is $2 per adult, children and seniors free.

    Saturday April 20 – Earth Day 10 a.m. – 4 p.m.  Ride a bike to the Museum and receive free admission.  Live Music on the Patio from 1-3 p.m.   All Ages welcome.

    ​The Channel Islands Maritime Museum is open M/Th-Sat 10-4pm, Sun 12-4PM and closed Tues and Wed for group tours and private member events, also, closed Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Year’s Day. Located in Oxnard’s Channel Islands Harbor at 3900 Bluefin Circle. Explore galleries full of rare and beautiful maritime paintings dating back to the 1600’s, more than sixty world-class models of historic ships, rotating thematic fine arts exhibitions, and interactive exhibits that encourage visitors to expand their horizons about everything maritime. Museum entry is free for members and children under 6, $7 adults, $5 seniors/military, $3 children (ages 6-17), and free on the third Thursday of the month.
