Oxnard | Community Workshop on Proposed Election Districts Scheduled for Jan. 22

Oxnard, California – Oxnard residents will get another chance to provide input on the composition of proposed City Council election districts during a community workshop.

DATE: Monday, Jan. 22, 2018
TIME: 6 p.m.
LOCATION: Oxnard Performing Arts & Convention Center, Hueneme Room, 800 Hobson Way, Oxnard

In November 2017, the Oxnard City Council adopted a resolution declaring its intent to consider transitioning to district-based elections, which would enable city voters to elect a council member who lives in their district. The city presently uses an at-large voting system, in which four council members and the mayor are elected by registered voters of the entire city. Under a district election system, the city would be divided into separate districts, with each district electing a council member from that district. The mayoral position would continue to be elected on an at-large basis.
