On June 19, 2019, Alberto Barreto (DOB 5/23/80), of Oxnard, pled guilty to nine counts of lewd acts upon children under 14 years old in violation of Penal Code section 288(a). On September 29, 2018, Barreto walked into the Oxnard Police Department and stated he wanted to turn himself in for committing sexual assault. During an initial interview, Barreto stated that three months before he had been touching the private parts of two little girls. After further investigation, detectives located the two minor victims and discovered Barreto had molested them on multiple occasions between May 2017 and September 2018, while they were living in the same residence as Barreto. Detectives subsequently arrested Barreto and felony charges were filed on October 2, 2018.
Sentencing is scheduled July 18, 2019, at 9:00 a.m. in courtroom 12 of the Ventura County Superior Court. It is expected Barreto will be sentenced to 24 years in the California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation.
