Oxnard Salsa Festival Celebrates 25th Anniversary With Free Kick-Off Concert Featuring Poncho Sanchez – July 27

Oxnard, CA—In celebration of its 25th anniversary, the Oxnard Salsa Festival will hold a free kick-off concert on Friday July 27 featuring Grammy award-winner Pancho Sanchez, conga player extraordinaire, salsa singer and Latin jazz bandleader.

Sanchez will bring his sizzling straight-ahead jazz, gritty soul music and infectious melodies and rhythms to the stage. The free concert will be held at Plaza Park, Fifth and “B” streets in historic downtown Oxnard. Sponsored by Shock Top, gates open at the park at 5:30 p.m. The concert is from 7:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m.

Concertgoers can bring their own chairs for lawn seating. No lawn umbrellas are allowed. Food can be purchased from food trucks (or bring your own). Beer and wine margaritas will be available (no outside alcohol is permitted). Table seating for six is $120 and can be purchased in advance.

As special gift from the Downtown Oxnard Merchants to celebrate the 25th Anniversary of the Oxnard Salsa Festival, the 2018 Friday Night Concert will have Free General Admission Seating. Pick up your free ticket from one of the Oxnard Downtown Merchants listed on oxnardsalsafestival.com. Tickets are given on a first come, first serve basis. Parking is in the 4th and B Streets garage.

The concert is the official start to the Oxnard Salsa Festival, taking place July 28 and 29 also at Plaza Park. The two‐day event draws an estimated 40,000 salsa lovers. In addition to non-stop live music and entertainment, highlights include a salsa-tasting tent, a fundraising salsa dancing contest, a craft vendor marketplace, international foods and a kids’ play zone. Admission and parking are free. Main stageseating is $5.

The 25th Annual Oxnard Salsa Festival is presented by the Oxnard Downtowners, and sponsored by Bud Light, Gold Coast Broadcasting, Mission Foods, McDonald’s, Oxnard Convention & Visitors Bureau and other community partners.
