The Pleasant Valley Historical Society presents 2017 Bee and Butterfly Day

The Pleasant Valley Historical Society will present an event to welcome butterflies and California native bees to our garden.  Come join us on Sunday, July 16 from 1 – 4 PM at the PVHS Botanical Garden, 720 North Las Posas Road, Camarillo, 93010.

Our guest speakers will be Dr. Gordon Frankie, native bee specialist from UC Berkeley, and Lynne and Rick Krause will give a talk on butterflies, their life cycle, and their needs. They will describe their work in saving butterflies.  Lynne will bring caterpillars and chrysalis to view up close and adult butterflies to release.

We’ll be giving away seed packets to attract beneficial insects and pollinators to your garden and information packets for teachers to start school butterfly gardens and there will be crafts for the children to do.  We’ll have butterfly and bee friendly plants, books, and packs of native wildflower seed mix as well as pollinator plants for sale.  Dr Frankie will happily autograph copies of his book, California Bees and Blooms—A guide for Gardeners and Naturalists.

This event is open to the public without charge and promises to offer a fun time for the whole family.  For more information, call: (805) 482-3660 or visit our website: www.pvhsonline.org.
