Port Hueneme Police Arrest Felony Hit and Run Suspect

After a week long investigation, investigators were able to locate the driver of the hit and run traffic collision involving serious injuries. The driver was identified as Melissa Webster, 36 years old from the City of Oxnard.

On May 18th, at approximately 11:00 a.m., the suspect made arrangements with the Port Hueneme Police Department and turned herself in. She was subsequently booked and charged with felony hit and run.  Webster was booked into the Ventura County Main Jail with bail set at $50,000.

It was determined during the investigation that the victim and suspect were in a sating relationship and had a two year old child in common.  The victim, Jonathan Hill, is still in the Intensive Care Unit but in stable condition at the Ventura County Medical Center.

Narrative:

On May 12, 2017, at around 8:15 p.m., officers from the Port Hueneme Police Department responded to a report of a pedestrian struck by a Recreational Vehicle(RV) in front of Port Hueneme City Hall. It was reported that the suspect vehicle drove away from the scene after the collision. Officers arrived on scene and discovered that an adult male was struck by the suspect vehicle and sustained serious injuries. The victim, identified as Jonathan Hill, was transported to the Ventura County Medical Center where he is currently listed in critical condition. It has been undetermined if there is any connection or relationship between the driver of the suspect vehicle and the victim.

Officers checked the area and found the suspect vehicle abandoned nearby. Witnesses saw a female walking away from the vehicle holding a small child. The female was last seen walking eastbound on Clara Street in the City of Port Hueneme. The female was described as being a Caucasian female, approximately 35 years of age, about 5’-5”, 120 pounds, wearing black pants and a black tank top.
