Port Hueneme Police Officer Injured

Port Hueneme – Incident Press Release

On February 10, 2019, at approximately 7:05 pm, Officer Gladys Rosete who is 28 years old was working on uniformed patrol in the City of Port Hueneme. She was on scene of a non-injury traffic collision in the 500 Blk of North Ventura Road. She requested a tow truck as one of the involved vehicles was disabled and blocking the roadway. A flatbed tow truck from Airport Chevron arrived on scene to remove the vehicle. As the vehicle was being loaded onto a flatbed tow truck, it suddenly and unexpectedly rolled off the flatbed tow truck and into the officer who became pinned under the vehicle.

Ventura County Fire Department and additional officers were immediately dispatched to the scene. Using a device known as “The Jaws of Life”, fire personnel were able to lift the vehicle high enough to slide the officer from underneath the vehicle.

Officer Gladys Rosete was transported to St. John’s Hospital where she is being examined and treated for her injuries. She is in good and stable condition.

This incident is being investigated as an Industrial Accident by the Port Hueneme Police Department. The tow truck driver is cooperating with the investigation. Northbound Ventura Road will be closed for several hours.
