Port Hueneme PD search for Suspects in Armed Robbery of Couple

Port Hueneme Police Department – Incident Press Release  

On Saturday June 17, 2017 at 9:11 p.m., Port Hueneme Police Officers responded to Moranda Park, 200 Moranda Parkway regarding an armed robbery.  A male and female were walking in the park near the softball fields when they were approached by a group of six people.  The four female suspects approached the female victim, while the two male suspects approached the male victim.

The two male suspects each brandished knives, threatened to stab the male victim and ordered him to hand over his cellphone.  The female suspects threatened to assault the female victim unless she handed over her cellphone.  The female victim initially handed her cellphone over to the suspects, but was able to retrieve it and run to find help.  The female suspects gave chase, caught the victim and physically assaulted her.

A Good Samaritan, walking on the sidewalk of Surfside Drive just east of Moranda Park heard the female victim screaming for help.  He ran over to assist and yelled at the suspects who then fled the area westbound towards the tennis courts.  As the female suspects fled the area, the male suspects released the male victim and also fled on foot towards the tennis courts.  The female victim complained of pain to her head and was treated at the scene by Emergency Medical Services.  The cellphone taken from the male victim is still outstanding.

Police checked the area but were not able to locate the suspects.  Suspect # 1 was described as a male Hispanic, 20 years, slender build, medium height, pocked face, buzz haircut, black t-shirt and dark colored dickies.  Suspect # 2 was described as a male Hispanic, 20 years, husky build and medium height wearing a blue or black hat with the same colored windbreaker jacket.  The main female suspect description was a female Hispanic, 18 years, short, slender build and bleached hair.
