Herzog’s Earth Day Festival

By Raven West

Herzog Wine Cellars and Tierra Sur will present Herzog’s Earth Day Festival and Farmers Market on Wednesday, April 22 starting at 5:00 pm! This event is free to the public and will celebrate strides taken toward sustainability in California’s wine making industry.

Dr. Matthew Hoffman of the Lodi Winegrape Commission will be a featured guest speaker at this year’s festival. As one of the key individuals behind the “Lodi Rules” sustainability program, Hoffman will help answer the question: What is Sustainability – and what is being done for a greener wine making industry of tomorrow. Along with Hoffman, winemaker Joe Hurliman will share insights on how sustainability influences the vineyards, the winery and wine making at Herzog Wine Cellars.

The event will also feature a local farmer’s market, boasting a very rare opportunity to sample and purchase delicious local produce and actually meet the farmers themselves. Herzog’s Tierra Sur Restaurant has invited local growers; Rio Gozo Farm, Tamai Family Farm, David Palmer Farm and more – all of whom provide ingredients to Tierra Sur year round. The chefs of Tierra Sur will serve gourmet snacks at the festival and have prepared a special Farmer’s Bounty pre-fixe menu for those dining at the restaurant.

NO TICKETS ARE REQUIRED FOR THIS EVENT. Must be at least 21 years old to purchase alcohol.
