Santa Paula Police Department – Incident Press Release
The Santa Paula Police Department received a report regarding sexual misconduct by a teacher from Santa Paula High School and began an investigation. On Tuesday, May 7, 2019, Santa Paula Police detectives arrested a teacher from Santa Paula High School for sexual misconduct with a student. A search warrant was served on the teacher’s vehicle, residence, and Santa Paula High School. Administrators from Santa Paula High School and the Santa Paula Unified School District have been cooperative throughout the investigation and are working closely with detectives to determine if there are other victims.
Suspect: Armando Rico, Santa Paula, 31 years old
Charged with:
- 288.3(a) PC- Contacting a minor with the intent to commit a felony
- 647.6(a)(1) PC- Child annoyance

The Santa Paula Police Department has been working closely with the Ventura County District Attorney’s Office and at this point the identity of the suspect and the suspect’s photo are being withheld pending further investigation. A follow up press release with the suspect’s information and identity will be released at a later date.
