 By Sheryl Hamlin

Three of the Rotary Club Fireworks Committee, Al Guilin, Tim Hicks and Cathy Hicks, spoke at the February 20, 2018 council meeting about the 2018 event.

According to local author Guilin, who is also an ordained deacon, the Fourth of July is a “signature event in Santa Paula, especially for young people. And good for the country.”

The costs for 2018, said Guilin, have rising slightly to $17,000, half of which is due by March.

To donate, you may mail a check to:

Santa Paula Rotary Club – Fireworks
PO Box 809
Santa Paula, CA 93061

The Rotary Club Benefit Fund is a 501©3 non-profit organization and the contribution is tax deductible. Please put “fireworks” on the check, reminded Guilin.

The entire committee consists of: Rick Araiza, Ginger Gherardi, Al Guilin, Cathy Hicks, Tim Hicks, Michele Johns, Julie Lopes and Jim Tovias.

Cathy Hicks said that they took a group of children with the Optimist Club to the park and it was magical to be so close, rather than watching on the hill like they usually do.
