The Second 100 Days (Trump Briefs: June 3-9 /Day 135-141) Week 20

Saturday, June 3 (Day 135):

State Department approves stricter vetting for visa seekers

The U.S. State Department has introduced stricter vetting procedures for all visa seekers.  Foreigners now need to submit:

  • Social media accounts for the last five years;
  • Biographical information for the last 15 years;
  • All previous passport numbers;
  • 15 years’ worth of travel history;
  • Employment history for the last 15 years;
  • Email addresses;
  • Phone numbers; and
  • Any relatives, including siblings, children and spouses.

The new measures are the beginning of the “extreme vetting” process President Trump promised.

“The idea is that we should be keeping out people who hate our values,” Director of the Center for Immigration Studies Mark Krikorian said.  “We should try to keep out from our society who hate us.”

Anti-Trump protesters “March for Truth”

Thousands of anti-Trump protesters called for an independent commission to investigate alleged collusion between Donald Trump’s 2016 presidential campaign and Russia and renewed calls for him to release his tax returns.

German musicians perform “tear down that wall” concert near border

Musicians from Germany (the Dresden Symphony), Guatemala and Mexico held a “Tear Down That Wall” protest in Tijuana, Mexico after authorities with the U.S. Border Patrol denied promoters of the even license to have it take place at Friendship Park in San Diego.

The  NBC affiliate reported that Trump supporters in San Diego shouted “USA, USA” and held signs that read, “Yes, Yes, Build the Wall.”  Robin Havidston, a Trump supporter from “We The People Rising” told NBC, “As Trump supporters, we decided to come out and make a statement that we support our president, and we support border security and we also support building the wall.”

Canadian government may remove children from homes refusing to recognize child’s gender identity

Canada’s Ontario province passed Bill 89 “Supporting Children, Youth and Families Act, 2017” by a vote of 63 to 23.

A parent’s failure to recognize and support a child’s gender self-identification is a form of child abuse and a child in these circumstances should be removed from the situation and placed into protection said Michael Coteau, Minister of Children and Youth Services.

“I would consider that a form of abuse, when a child identifies one way and a caregiver is saying no, you need to do this differently,” Coteau said.  “If it’s abuse, and it is’ within the definition, a child can be removed from that environment and placed into protection where the abuse stops.”

The new bill replaced the Child and Family Services Act, or Bill 28, which governed child protection, foster child and adoption services.  The religious faith in which the parents are raising the child has been removed from consideration for assessing the child’s best interests.  No longer can the parents “direct the child’s education and religious upbringing” but must be “in accordance with the child’s or young person’s creed, community identity and cultural identity.”

Sunday, June 4 (Day 136):

Watchdog groups pressure advertisers to pull mainstream media ads

Brent Bozel

The Media Research Center and Media Equalizer have begun putting pressure on advertisers to pull their ads from mainstream media that are attacking conservatives and that are focusing on the Trump’s campaign “alleged collusion with Russian agents.”

“Fighting fire with fire is just to point out this can go both ways,” said Brian Maloney, a former conservative radio host heading up the Media Equalizer movement.  “We’re trying to show if you’re going to play this game, live or die by this sword.  I don’t think the left is used to the right firing back on this.”

Brent Bozell, president of the Media Research Center, is now saying that MRC will encourage advertisers to fight back when the mainstream media “goes beyond political commentary and engages in smear and hate.  We will be publicly listing the advertisers of these programs and asking them to defend their decision to continue airing ads on these shows,” Bozell said.

The efforts to pull mainstream media advertising is in response to advertisers pulling ads from Hannity on Fox News when Sean Hannity continued to investigate the circumstances surrounding the murder of Democratic National Committee staffer Seth Rich.

Earlier in the year, 90 advertisers dropped ads from Bill O’Reilly’s The O’Reilly Factor over sexual harassment allegations.  O’Reilly was eventually let go from Fox News despite his status as the top-rated cable news host in America.

New York City pursing plan to fund criminal illegal aliens’ lawyers

More than half (27 of 51) New York City council members have signed a letter to New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio demanding him to provide convicted criminal illegal aliens with taxpayer funded attorneys on top of the $16 million of taxpayer money set aside already reports the New York Times.

The New York city councilmen wish to follow a model provided by the George Soros funded New York Immigrant Family Unity Project which mandates that convicted criminal illegal aliens receive taxpayer-funded attorneys.

Pro Sanctuary City Councilman Carlos Menchaca told the New York Times, “By not giving taxpayer-funded lawyers to convicted criminal illegal aliens, as the Soros group has modeled, the council members say de Blasio is practicing ‘exclusion.’”

The Center for Popular Democracy (CPD) created the New York Immigrant Family Unity Project to get progressive, sanctuary cities onboard with plans to pay for illegal aliens’ criminal defense attorneys.   In 2016, Soros’ Open Society Foundation gave CPD $705,000 in grants to “support efforts challenging anti-Muslim sentiment” and “support advocacy on access to economic opportunity.”   In the first quarter of 2017, the Open Society Foundation gave CPD another $150,000.

Russian President:  “Have you all lost your senses over there?”

Russian President Vladimir Putin asks NBC News’ Megyn Kelly whether Americans have “all lost your senses over there” in advancing conspiracy theories linking President Donald Trump’s 2016 campaign to the Russian government.  Putin was addressing any notion that he had a close relationship with former National Security Adviser Michael Flynn or any notion that Trump’s son-in-law, Jared Kushner, had dealings with the Russian ambassador.

Putin speaking about Trump said:  “We didn’t have any relationship at all.  There was a time when he used to come to Moscow.  But you know, I never met with him.  We have a lot of Americans who visit us.  Right now, I think we have representatives from a 100 American companies that have come to Russia.  Do you think we’re gathering compromising information on all of them right now?  Have you all lost your senses over there?”

Putin told Kelly:  “You and I, have a much closer relationship that I had with Mr. Flynn.  You and I met yesterday evening.  You and I have been working together all day today.  And now we’re meeting again.”

Monday, June 5 (Day 137):

Trump on new London terror:  “This bloodshed must end…bring back the ‘travel ban’ to fight terror

“This bloodshed must end.  This bloodshed will end,” President Trump said, vowing to “do what is necessary” to prevent terrorism from coming to America.

The new Muslim terrorist attack in England killed seven and wounded nearly 50 on the London bridge.  The Islamic State claimed responsibility for the Saturday night attack in which a van hit a number of pedestrians on London Bridge followed by the three occupants of the van jumping out to stab those in nearby Borough Market.

After the attack, Islamic State sympathizers and militants hailed the new London attack and called for more such carnage throughout Europe and the West.

President Trump tweeted, “People, the lawyers and the courts can call it whatever they want, but I am calling it what we need and what it is, a TRAVEL BAN!   The courts are slow and political.”

The temporary ban blocks travel and immigration from six Middle Eastern countries—Iran, Libya, Somalia, Syria, Sudan, and Yemen.

Meanwhile, Stevie Wonder urged love in Manchester charity concert:  “Anyone who claims terror due to Allah is a ‘liar.’”

Former Secretary of State John Kerry

John Kerry defends Iran Deal in San Francisco

Former Secretary of State John Kerry defended the Iran nuclear deal at a gala dinner for the Ploughshares Fund, a George Soros-backed group that was part of President Barack Obama’s efforts to sell the agreement to the public.

Kerry called the Iran deal’s monitoring processes a “system that’s working” according to the San Francisco Chronicle and criticized President Donald Trump and Republicans in Congress for pushing for new sanctions against the Iranian regime.

Kerry defended his 2014 remark that climate change was a “weapon of mass destruction” and a threat to national security.  “The threat is that whole parts of the ice sheet will break off,” Kerry said.

The Ploughshares Fund has been sponsoring national security coverage at National Public Radio (NPR) since 2005, as well as several think tanks that supported the Iran deal.

Tuesday, June 6 (Day 138):

American Children First launches effort to defund sanctuary cities

The city of Cudahy could lose 13.5 percent of its general revenue funds under an effort to defund sanctuary cities launched by Joseph Turner, founder of American Children First according to Fox 11 News. The defunding mechanism being used is Prop 218–a utility tax repeal which Turner says can be done for a mere “couple hundred bucks and less than a hundred signatures.”  Turner told Breibart News that by filing under Prop 218 he only needs to gather 62 signatures from Cudahy voters and that he has 180 days to collect the signatures. The Cudahy City Council voted on Jan. 6, 2015 to become a “Sanctuary City for Immigrants.”

The next city after Cudahy that American Children First is targeting is Huntington Park where Turner says he would need around 176 signatures.  This city was picked because the city council began appointing  illegal aliens to their city commissions in 2015 and the backlash from citizens made national news.

In March and in April, U.S. Attorney General Jeff Sessions warned cities which continually refuse “to detain known felons on federal detainer requests” could lose federal funding and claimed that 10 cities had received letters under the Obama administration just a year ago.   Then in May, the Attorney General issued a memo defining a sanctuary city in connection with President Donald Trump’s January executive order on the issue.

American Children First was started after Donald Trump won the 2016 presidential election.  However, Turner has been involved in the immigration issue since 2006 when he was featured in a Wall Street Journal article.  He is hopeful that his efforts will bring inspiration to others to seek the defunding of sanctuary cities.

San Jose considers new ‘sanctuary city’ law governing law enforcement

Councilman Lan Diep has proposed a “Shield Our City” ordinance that would prohibit the San Jose Police Department from entering into a formal agreement with U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) without first seeking permission from the city attorney’s office before carrying out raids in “safe zones” such as schools, hospitals, courthouses and places of worship.

However, other San Jose council members are questioning whether the city has any legal power to dictate rules to a federal agency and are worried that the proposal would needlessly provoke a response from the Trump administration that would do more harm than good to the city’s immigrant residents reports the San Jose Mercury News.

Democratic Mayor Sam Riccardo, who blamed Donald Trump for violence by anti-Trump rioters against Trump supporters attending a local election rally last year has advised using caution and the proposal is being considered by the city attorney’s office before being brought before the city council for a vote.

Donald Trump: Reality Leigh Winner “one of the biggest broken promises in history”

“Obamacare is dead, I’ve been saying it for a long time, everybody knows it, everybody that wants to report fairly about it does,” President Trump said speaking to reporters at the Ohio airport before his infrastructure speech and after Anthem Blue Cross announced they were pulling out of the healthcare exchanges in Ohio due to prohibitive costs to the company.

President Trump warned both parties in Congress to pass an Obamacare replacement quickly and said that Senate Majority Mitch McConnell was working to get a proposal finished as soon as possible.

“We’re having no help, it’s only obstruction from the Democrats.  The Democrats are destroying health care in this country.”

Thursday, June 8 (140):

NSA leaker pleads “not guilty” in Georgia court

Reality Leigh Winner, a 25-year-old government worker for the National Security Agency pleaded “not guilty” to leaking classified information in an August, Georgia court.  She was denied bail to the charge that can give her up to 10 years in federal prison.

Winner, a former Air Force veteran and yoga instructor, who was contracted with Pluribus International Corporation leaked a National Security Agency report issued in May on Russian election hacking to The Intercept news site.

Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein, wrote in a press release issued by the Department of Justice:  “Exceptional law enforcement efforts allowed us quickly to identify and arrest the defendant…Releasing classified material without authorization threatens our nation’s security and undermines public faith in government.  People who are trusted with classified information and pledge to protect it must be held accountable when they violate that obligation.”

Winner was caught when The Intercept news outlet asked the NSA to comment on the document, instead the NSA contacted the FBI for an internal investigation that led to Reality Winner as the source of the leaks.  Upon investigation, authorities are looking into other possible “leaks” (each leak can be prosecuted for up to 10 years) including her personal notebook which referenced her  wish to “burn the White House down.”

Winner held a “top secret” clearance in relation with her work for Pluribus, a defense and intelligence contractor, despite her anti-Trump tweets and involvement in the “Resistance.”  She has admitted to printing the document and sending it to the news outlet from her home in Augusta, Georgia.

A GoFundMe page in support of Winner has raised over $20,000.  Anti-Trump celebrity Rosie O’Donnell has called her a “brave young patriot.”

A 2013 report from the Office of the Director of National Intelligence found 4.9 security clearances, 1.4 million of them “top secret” as the government has grown ever more dependent on it’s security clearance system to maintain confidentiality.

Houston Mayor sues over Texas sanctuary city immigration ban

Houston Mayor Sylvester Turner says he wants to join other Texas cities (including San Antonio and El Paso; and the police chiefs of the six largest cities in Texas) in suing the State of Texas over Senate Bill 4—the sanctuary city ban passed by Governor Greg Abbott on May 7 during a Facebook Live event.

The Texas bill requires law enforcement and other officials who implement sanctuary policies and release criminal aliens with detainers to be subject to the “stiffest penalties in America”—up to $25,500 a day.   The bill makes it a crime for sheriff and police to refuse to cooperate with immigration officials and would remove them from office.   The bill allows law enforcement officials to ask a person being detained about their immigration status.   “The so-called controversial part of this law has been ruled on by the U.S. Supreme Court and upheld,” said Governor Abbott.

Sylvester Turner served in the Texas House from 1989 to 2016 before becoming Houston Mayor.

Saudi soccer team refuses to stand in silence for London attack victims

The Saudi Arabian soccer team refused to line up and have a moment of silence for the victims of the London Bridge attack before their game with Australia (two Australian women died in the London attack), claiming “it is not in keeping with our culture.”

Bernie Sanders attacks White House budget appointee for Christian faith;

KKLA radio host calls Sanders comments “unconstitutional”

Senator Bernie Sanders attacks Russell Vought, President Trump’s nominee to be deputy director of the White House Office of Management and Budget at U.S. Senate budge committee hearings, over his Christian faith.

“This nominee is not someone who is what this country is suppose to be about,” said Sen. Bernie Sanders after saying that “I understand you are a Christian…(are Muslims and Jews)….going to be condemned?”

KKLA radio host Frank Sontag went on air in his afternoon show on 99.5FM to say this “line of questioning was unconstitutional” and “inappropriate” as well as “embarrassing and disgraceful.”

“We as followers of Jesus Christ do not understand our place of faith in the political environment,” said Sontag.  “Bernie Sanders called out Russell Vought for his Christian faith…(because of) his left agenda…his contempt for Christianity.  We need to say as Christians ‘No more.’”

Sontag shared Article 6 of the U.S. Constitution:  “no religious Test shall ever be required as a Qualification to any Office or public Trust under the United States.”  Sontag argued that Sanders attacking Vought for his Christian faith and using this as a “religious test” that disqualifies him for service in government was not only an attack on Christians but unconstitutional and anti-American.

“Bernie Sanders broke the constitution yesterday.   I am just shocked the way this country is going.  It is time to step up…to stand firm.  Let’s start acting like we know who Jesus is, and how this country was founded.”

Planned Parenthood releases 2015-16 annual report Memorial Day;

Founder of LiveAction responds

Planned Parenthood released its annual report for the 2015-16 fiscal year after a six month delay during Memorial Day weekend.  The abortion giant “served 100,000 fewer individuals compared to the previous fiscal year—a four percent drop.  The number of clinics has dropped by 1.7 percent and the number of affiliates by 5 percent since the last fiscal year.  Planned Parenthood committed 328,348 abortions over the last fiscal year (more than 900 per day) which was an increase of 4,500 abortions from last year.  Planned Parenthood provided 8,000 less prenatal services (a drop of 46 percent).

Lila Rose, the 28-year-old founder and president of Live Action (which she started when she was 15-years-old), spoke about the Planned Parenthood annual report on the Frank Sontag KKLA show.  She said “this report is   damaging to their narrative that we (Planned Parenthood) are about women’s health…Are pro-women’s health…(When in reality) they are the biggest abortion chain.”

Rose said, “The reality is that they are not the only game in town.  There are over 20 federal qualified health centers for every one Planned Parenthood Clinic.  There are other health care groups that serve women and are not getting taxpayers money.  Planned Parenthood spends over 100 million dollars a year marketing their brand which is focused on abortion.  They have even admitted our name is deceiving and misleading.

“You don’t get parenthood support, (Planned Parenthood) offers (limited) prenatal care, no adoption care, and (do) 35 percent of all abortions in America.

“Christ says whatever you do to the least of these, you do it to me.  How about the child who cannot escape an abortionist, whose own mother has surrendered her body to an abortionist?  A child has no way to defend themselves.  The path to women’s empowerment cannot be won in the broken bodies of our children.”

KKLA radio host spotlights Michigan violation of religious freedom case

KKLA radio host Frank Sontag interviewed Michigan Country Mill farmer Steve Tennes  who is being denied access to the East Lansing city operated famer’s market after seven years as a vendor for a posting made on his Facebook site concerning the sanctity of marriage.  As Catholics, the Tennes family believes that marriage is a sacred union between one man and one woman.

The City of East Lansing has charged Tennes with violating the city’s nondiscrimination ordinance, which includes sexual orientation and gender identity as protected classes even though Country Mill Farms is in Charlotte, Michigan, 22 miles outside East Lansing city limits.  The city has done this by creating a new policy for 2017 market vendors that required all vendors to comply with the nondiscrimination policy while at the market and in all of the vendor’s general business practices.  The new policy includes the vendor’s speech and activities outside of East Lansing.  Country Mill Farms is the only vendor that the city has banned from the farmer’s market.

Country Mill Farms sells apples, blueberries, peaches, cherries, sweet corn and pumpkins to everyone who want to buy them from his organic farm.  In their seven-year history at the farmer’s market, no one buying their produce has ever accused them of discrimination.  East Lansing states that the Tennes Family’s statement of their religious belief in biblical marriage was the only reason for their farms’ expulsion from the market.

Alliance Defending Freedom has filed a lawsuit on behalf of Country Mill Farms to put an end to this discrimination against speech and religion.

“Laws like East Lansing’s are unconstitutional because they limit the right of people to freely speak and to freely express their faith.  This type of government overreach and exclusion of people of faith from the public square must end” writes Marissa Mayer, ADF senior web writer.  “East Lansing is doing a disservice to its community when it refuses to tolerate multiple viewpoints, beliefs, and cultures.”

Anti-Trump New York City play “Building the Wall” shuts down early;

Central Park play featuring Trump as Julius Caesar begins

The off-Broadway Anti-Trump play “Building the Wall” shuts down this weekend in New York City after dismal ticket sales and following negative reviews.  It was scheduled to end July 9.

The setting of the play is 2019 when President Trump has been removed from office after declaring martial law and placing Mexicans and Muslims in concentration camps that become killing chambers. The 90-minute play written after the election of Trump is still playing in Los Angeles and hopes to play in Chicago, Miami and Santa Fe.

New York City “Shakespeare in the Park” (Central Park) depicts a modern day Julius Caesar that “looks like” President Donald Trump who is stabbed to death by Senators with the American flag hanging overhead.  The play opened on May 23 and Calpurnia, Caesar’s wife, speaks with a Slavic accent like Melania Trump in the Oskar Eustis-directed production which runs until June 18 in the Delacorte Theater.

The fake “assassination” of President Trump in the Shakespeare play comes one week after comedian Kathy Griffin was pictured holding a bloodied, decapitated prosthetic head meant to resemble the head of Trump. The photograph was widely condemned.

Six Revelations from Comey Hearing; Trump Lawyer to file complaint against FBI Director for leaking; oil consultant responds;

Breitbart News reported on six revelations from the Comey hearing:

James Comey taking his oath of office — Photo FBI

  • Trump was not under investigation by the FBI (told three times by Comey);
  • James Comey leaked documents to the media;
  • The obstruction of justice case against Trump just went up in smoke;
  • Comey says the New York Times published fake news;
  • Loretta Lynch meddled in the Clinton investigation; and
  • James Comey sounds like every disgruntled former employee ever.

Marc Kasowitz, President Trump’s attorney is filing a complaint on former FBI Director James Comey after he admitted that he orchestrated the leaking of his memos to the media.  The complaints are going to the Department of Justice Inspector General and the Senate Judiciary Committee.

Comey told the Senate intelligence committee that he gave memos he created of private meetings with the president to a friend (identified as Dan Richman, a Columbia law professor who sent the memo to the New York Times) in hopes of triggering the appointment of a special counsel.

“It is overwhelmingly clear that there have been and continue to be those in government who are actively attempting to undermine this administration,” said Kasowitz, “with selective and illegal leaks of classified information and privileged communications.  Mr. Comey has now admitted that he is one of these leakers.”

Carter Page, the American oil industry consultant, slammed former FBI Director James Comey’s testimony as misleading, inaccurate, defamatory and “tantamount to the standards of high-school gossip.”

Page wrote to the Senate’s Select Committee on Intelligence, “Astonishingly, Comey accused the new Administration today of attempts to supposedly ‘defame’ him.  This allegation is hard to fathom given the fact that this baseless witch hunt he once led has severely defamed the President of the United States.”

Former law enforcement officials:  Former FBI Director usurps power;

leaks classified information to friend who leaks to news media

“This is an extraordinary usurpation of power. Not something you’d expect from the supposedly by-the-books guys at the top of the FBI,” stated a former law enforcement official to Breitbart News.

James Comey, asserted in his extraordinary testimony before the Senate Intelligence Committee that the director of the Federal Bureau of Investigation is authorized to override Justice Department oversight procedures.

Comey stated that he did not believe he needed to report to Attorney General Jeff Sessions or any other Justice Department superior.

“He’s not only put the credibility of the bureau in doubt, he’s now putting the entire basis for our independence in jeopardy,” the unnamed law enforcement official said and he pointed to an editorial in the Wall Street Journal as explaining the dangers of an FBI that decides not to inform the Department of Justice of its activities.

“The police powers of the government are awesome and often abused, and the only way to prevent or correct abuses is to report to elected officials who are accountable to voters. A director must resist intervention to obstruct an investigation, but he and the agency must be politically accountable or risk becoming the FBI of J. Edgar Hoover,” the Wall Street Journal wrote.

Hollywood actress wants to ‘understand the rest of America”

Salma Hayek

Trump critic, actress Salma Hayek, (who last summer while on The Late Late Show with James Corden, offered to lend Trump a copy of U.S. History for Dummies) says she has a “lack of understanding” for Trump supporters, whose thought processes “scare” her.

“In the States, there is a large population that doesn’t see his (Trump) actions as anything erratic or stupid or offensive.  It scares me; I don’t understand the thought process behind that and I must do it.  It is my duty qs a citizen to understand the rest of America.

“When you are surrounded by only one mentality” (Hollywood for example)—“it’s hard for you to see the other mentality.  So, maybe if you step out and take a look beyond your environment, we can start understanding each other and have a conversation. I hope it starts this dialogue.”

The 50-year-old actress (her new film is Beatriz at Dinner), a vocal Hillary Clinton supporter, has been a critic of President Trump spoke her comments to the Hollywood Reporter.

Former Vice President says God told him to fight global warming

Former Vice President Al Gore is now saying that “God commands us to go forth and fight global warming.   God intends for us to take responsibility for how we treat God’s creation.”

Gore equates the fight against global warming to a religious-based, moral crusade similar to the civil rights fights, women’s suffrage, and the abolitionist movement during the Civil War era.

Gore has now produced a new film sequel to his “An Inconvenient Truth”—and says that he “underestimated” how bad global warming is.  “I wish the film had over-estimated the seriousness of the crisis, but unfortunately it actually underestimated how serious it is,” said the former Tennessee Senator.

    A big difference from having a German wall to keep good people in and a United States wall to keep bad people out. I know, those are the words of a xenophobe, but only if you ignore that we are just keeping our contract between each other as citizens that we are here for our mutual benefit in an E. Pluribus attitude.
