Sheriff conducts Probation Searches in Oak View

On Friday May 26th, 2017, the Ventura County Sheriff’s Office Ojai Valley Station deployed 4 deputies into the field for the purpose of conducting probation / parole sweeps in the unincorporated area of the Ojai Valley. Patrol deputies assigned to the Ojai Valley Station wanted to take a proactive approach and focus the searches primarily on drug users and thieves. This operation was funded by a California State grant for supervising post-release and serious habitual offenders, due to state prison realignment.

The objective of the operation was to take a zero-tolerance approach to enforcing the individuals probation parole terms as outlined by the court. At approximately 8 AM, Sheriff’s Deputies began knocking on doors of the 3 targeted residences. The residential searches were focused in Oak View.

The operation netted 8 arrests, for charges that included the following: Under the influence of controlled substances, possession of drug paraphernalia, possession of narcotics, and a parole violation.

Subjects were either given a citation and released or booked into the Ventura County Jail.
