Simi Police respond to possible freeway overpass jumper

Simi Valley Police responded the 118 freeway overpass, at Kadota Street, on the report of a subject hanging over the overpass wall above the freeway.
Officers arrived and found the subject, who was threatening to jump. Several Simi Valley Officers responded to the scene, accompanied by CHP Officers, who closed three lanes of the westbound 118 freeway. After approximately one hour the subject, who was identified as a 31 year old male, Simi Valley resident was convinced to move away from the wall and be transported to the hospital for assistance. This was accomplished through the use of a Simi Valley Police negotiator.
No one was injured during the incident and the freeway was fully opened after an approximate one hour shutdown.
