Simi Valley | Annual Heroes & Helpers Event for Children

It is time to spread holiday cheer for those in need, the Simi Valley Police Department is partnering up with our local Target Stores to host another highly successful Heroes and Helpers event, formally Shop with a Cop. Heroes and Helpers is a joint effort where local families are teamed with a SVPD staff member and a Target gift card shopping spree. By pairing families up, this program strives to build positive relationships between law enforcement professionals and our community.

The goal is to provide an enjoyable experience to the children of Simi Valley who otherwise may not celebrate the holidays due to family and/or financial hardship. Heroes and Helpers establish lasting relationships between our officers and neighborhood families that promote a community environment of trust, care, and compassion.

Local youth groups, churches, and schools identify those families in crisis that demonstrate a significant financial need. The children benefit from this event.

Each child will purchase essentials and once that is achieved they may shop for other family members. It is heartwarming to see these children will often choose to spend the money on family members as opposed to themselves. These kind gestures truly personify a season of goodwill and giving.

Funds are raised by donations from Target Corporation, Simi Valley Police Foundation and its members, SVPD Police Officers Association, SVPD Managers Association and the generosity of our community. Anyone from the community is welcome to donate to the program as well.
