Simi Valley Burglary Thwarted by Vigilant Citizen

Simi Valley Police Department – Incident Press Release

On 11/16/17 at approximately 1:00 AM, a citizen contacted the Simi Valley Police Department to report that he saw a male subject climbing the drainage pipe up to the roof of Macy’s Department Store, 1475 Simi Town Center Way. Shortly thereafter, the SVPD communication center advised that two alarms had activated at Macy’s, both of which covered the roof hatch. Upon investigation of the roof hatch and the roof area, the suspect was nowhere to be found. Officers checked the surrounding areas and found a suspect matching the description, hiding in a bush next to the drainage pipe. Further investigation revealed that the suspect had indeed opened the roof hatch and had fled upon seeing officers arrive on scene. The suspect was identified as Brandon Gabaldon 20yrs., from Simi Valley. He was subsequently booked at the Ventura County Jail for 664/459 PC, Attempted Commercial Burglary. 

The Simi Valley Police Department would like to remind citizens to call the Police Dept. if they see anything suspicious.
