CITY OF SIMI VALLEY ANNUAL EXPO – SATURDAY, MAY 13, 2017 HELD WITH THE CHAMBER OF COMMERCE STREET FAIR

The City’s Office of Emergency Services will be hosting the Annual EXPO on Saturday, May 13, 2017 from 9 A.M. to 5 P.M. The EXPO is FREE to attend and is held in conjunction with the Simi Valley Chamber of Commerce Street Fair.

This event draws participation from City, County, State and Federal agencies along with several other groups and organizations that come to showcase the programs and services available to our community. The EXPO and Street Fair have become a favorite community event for more than 20 years.

One of the activities we’re highlighting this year is the Ventura County Fire Department will be performing a victim rescue demonstration at 2:30 P.M. Firefighters will be using the “Jaws of Life” equipment to pry apart a vehicle and extract a “victim” from inside. This is always an exciting demonstration to watch, so come early to get a good spot!

This year we will once again be conducting a drawing for a chance to win a deluxe 4-person emergency survival kit! EXPO goers can pick-up a “Vendor Scavenger Hunt” raffle card, then visit each EXPO booth listed, have their card validated, and return the completed raffle card to the Office of Emergency Services booth for a chance to win a deluxe 4-person emergency survival kit. The kit normally retails for $159.95 and is one of the finest kits available for home use. While supplies last, a FREE “paracord wrist band” will be given to each person that returns a completed raffle card.

There will be other raffle opportunities at the EXPO this year as well! The Simi Valley ACS/ARES members are raffling two Baofeng Model UV-5R Plus HT Dual Band Radio kits. This opportunity is available to licensed amateur radio operators that stop by the ACS/ARES booth and sign up for this raffle.

These are just a few of the activities planned this year. It’s a great day of learning and fun for the whole family and there’s no cost! Please come and spend some time with us! We hope to see you there!
