Simi Valley Police Department Officers locate a stolen vehicle and arrest the suspect

Simi Valley Police Department (SVPD) officers in conjunction with Ventura County Auto Theft Task Force (VENCATT) detectives, became aware of a stolen vehicle in the City of Simi Valley in the area of Sycamore Drive and Cochran Street. Simi Valley Police Department officers located and attempted to stop the vehicle. The driver, later determined to be Jeffrey Clarke (10-14-1995), failed to stop and a short pursuit ensued. The pursuit was cancelled after a very short distance, however VENCATT detectives located the vehicle parked and unoccupied in residential neighborhood in the area of Sioux Court and Seneca Place. VENCATT detectives observed Clarke leaving the area of the stolen vehicle on a bicycle and detained him. After further investigation, Clarke was arrested for evading officers and being in possession of the stolen vehicle. The vehicle and the bicycle were both determined to have been stolen out of the City of Malibu on August 9, 2017. Clarke was later booked at the Ventura County Sheriff’s Department for possession of the stolen vehicle, evading officers, and possession of stolen property. 

The Simi Valley Police Department would like remind the community to avoid becoming a victim: 

– Keep your vehicle locked at all times, even while driving. 
– When parked secure all windows and sunroof. 
– Do not leave your keys in the vehicle. 
– Never leave your car running and unattended. 
– Be aware of your surroundings when parking your vehicle. 
– Report any suspicious activity and call SVPD (805) 583-6950
