Simi Valley | Police Search for Suspect who Brandished Firearm

Simi Valley Police Department – Incident Press Release

On 12/17/18 at approximately 7:00 PM the SVPD was contacted in regards to a subject with a weapon at the laundromat located at 1653 Royal Ave. The reporting party stated that a subject entered the laundromat and was challenging people to fight. At one point the subject lifted up his shirt and displayed a firearm in his waistband. After the altercation, the suspect left the laundromat and walked toward the business next door. Upon seeing an employee of the business inside, the suspect recovered the firearm from his waistband, chambered a round and pointed it at her. SVPD officers responded with lights and siren and upon arrival, spotted the suspect running northbound through the wash and into the River Ranch Apt. complex. The complex was contained and a search was conducted utilizing police k-9’s and a police helicopter. The suspect was not found. No one was injured during the incident and the suspect’s motive was unknown. 

The suspect is described as a Hispanic male, 5’7″, 160 lbs., 30 yrs. old, with a black baseball cap, striped shirt and backpack. He is wanted for 245 PC, Assault with a Deadly Weapon.
