Suspect arrested in Thousand Oaks – Caught Driving stolen vehicle

Detectives arrested a 49-year-old transient Angelie Gamboa, Tuesday for automobile theft after watching her drive a stolen vehicle.

On Aug. 7, 2017, at about 4:20 a.m., a Thousand Oaks patrol deputy was driving in the 500 block of Ventu Park Road when the patrol unit’s Automatic License Plate Reader (ALPR) alerted the deputy to a stolen vehicle. The deputy located the car and notified Thousand Oaks detectives.Tuesday for automobile theft after watching her drive a stolen vehicle.

Investigators from the Thousand Oaks Auto Crimes Unit responded and set up a surveillance on the vehicle. At about 7:00 a.m., investigators watched Angelie Gamboa get into the driver’s seat of the stolen car and drive away. Patrol deputies conducted an enforcement stop and arrested Gamboa for automobile theft. Gamboa also had an outstanding warrant for identity theft in Los Angeles County.

Gamboa was transported to Ventura County Jail and booked for automobile theft and the outstanding identity theft warrant. Gamboa remains in custody on $20,000.

The Thousand Oaks Police Department would like to remind residents to lock their cars and remove their keys whenever they leave their vehicles. More than half of the automobile thefts occurring in the city involve cars with the keys left inside.
