Suspect taken into Custody for Bear River Circle Burglary

On 08/02/2017, detectives from the Thousand Oaks Police Department concluded a two week residential burglary investigation with the arrest of 39-year old Craig Banrikel.

On 7-23-2017, deputies from the Thousand Oaks Police Department responded to a report of a residential burglary in the 2900 block of Bear River Circle. Deputies learned the victims had been on a 10-day vacation and had discovered the burglary when they returned home. Deputies processed the crime scene and located a receipt from CVS Pharmacy that did not belong to the victims.

Thousand Oaks detectives were assigned the case and identified Craig Banrikel as the receipt’s original owner. On 08/02/2017, detectives served a search warrant at Barnikel’s residence and located evidence linking him to the burglary. Barnikel was arrested for residential burglary and booked into the Ventura County Jail.

On 08/04/2017, The Ventura County District Attorney’s Office charged Barnikel with residential burglary and added a special enhancement for being a habitual offender under the three strikes law. Barnikel remains in custody and his bail is set at $355,000.

    Love to hear about these Law Enforcement successes. Although the evidence was “low hanging fruit,” it still is a success.
