Sylmar man sentenced to multiple life terms for series of restaurant robberies

VENTURA, California – District Attorney Gregory D. Totten announced today that Andre Love (DOB 4/17/79) of Sylmar, was sentenced to serve three consecutive 30 years to life sentences, for a total of 90 years to life in prison. Love was convicted by jury last month of five counts of robbery. Love also has two prior “strike” robbery convictions from 2006 in Florida and 1995 in Los Angeles.

On July 12, 2015, the manager of Bandits Bar & Grill in Thousand Oaks was leaving the restaurant at the close of business when Love jumped out from behind a dumpster and pointed a firearm at him while demanding entry into the restaurant. Once inside, Love took money from the cash drawers, bank deposit bags, and tip envelopes. Love then tied up the manager with zip ties before he left. On May 1, 2016, Love entered Al Mulino’s Italian Deli in Westlake Village after business hours. He pointed a firearm at the janitor and demanded money. After taking the janitor’s wallet, Love forced him into the bathroom and instructed him to remain inside for 15 minutes to give Love time to leave. On May 18, 2016, Love entered Cisco’s Mexican Restaurant in Thousand Oaks at the close of business. He pointed a firearm at three employees, demanding money and cell phones. He took money and cellphones from the business and employees, threatening to kill them if they called the police. The Ventura County Sheriff’s Office was instrumental in solving this crime spree and bringing justice to the victims of these crimes.
