The Purple Heart Project | Woodworking for Wounded Warriors

Woodcraft of Ventura is proud to partner with Rob Cosman to support and participate in the Purple Heart Project.

Rob Cosman’s Purple Heart Project Mission: Introduce physically and mentally Wounded Warriors, suffering the negative effects of combat, to the peace and joy that can be found through the therapy of traditional hand tool woodworking.

Rob Cosman is a hand tool woodworking instructor, tool designer and fabricator, and furniture maker who was professionally trained by Dale Nish at BYU’s industrial arts program. In the summer of 1987 he was the resident woodworking program assistant at the Aspen Institute and worked with many of the great woodworking craftsman of the day (Alan Peters, Sam Maloof, Taig Fried and others). Today, Rob focuses on sharing his passion for traditional woodworking, developing techniques and tips to engage a new audience not exposed to traditional woodworking techniques.

February 7, 2019 we will host a Purple Heart Workshop at Woodcraft of Ventura.

Rob will teach an all day workshop focused on hand planing skills, sharpening and dovetail techniques. Prior woodworking knowledge is not required; Rob’s plethora of woodworking knowledge will either help build a strong woodworking foundation or refine and enhance your existing skill set. Tuition is free for eligible participants, however, space is limited to twelve participants.

Workshop hours are 8:00 am – 5:00 pm. Woodcraft of Ventura is located at 3860 East Main Street, Ventura, CA 93003. For more information, call Gerry at 805-658-9663.
